What Sky tour actually does to the camera
The control lives in the sky controls rail, labeled "Sky tour" when it's off and "Stop sky tour" once it's running. Underneath, it's a single continuous change to the camera's yaw, the left-right heading, sweeping the compass in one direction at a steady rate that completes a full 360 degree turn roughly every ninety seconds. Nothing else about the view changes on its own. Time still runs at whatever speed you set it — Live, one minute per second, one hour per second, one day per second — the tour is only ever rotating where you're looking, never how fast the simulated clock is moving.
It's also not a scripted tour of named constellations. There's no list of stops, no captions, no pause at Orion or Cassiopeia. It's one uniform sweep across the whole horizon, and whatever drifts through your field of view along the way is whatever happens to be there.
Why one touch ends it, and why it doesn't come back on its own
Any pointer drag or mouse wheel input ends the tour instantly. Not on the next tick, not with a fade — the sweep simply stops the moment you interact, and control of the camera goes straight back to you. It does not resume by itself later. If you want it running again, you tap the button again.
That design is worth noticing on its own terms. A lot of auto-play features are built to be sticky — they resume after a pause, or require a deliberate stop action. Sky tour is built the other way: the instant you show any intent to look at something specific, it gets out of your way completely, and it stays out of your way until you ask for it back.
Why it disables itself under reduced motion

What it does not do
It's worth being precise about the edges of this feature, because the obvious assumption — that a "tour" walks you past specific things — isn't how this one works. Sky tour doesn't stop on planets, doesn't pause on the Moon, doesn't slow down for an active meteor radiant, and doesn't know or care what's currently in frame. It's a compass sweep, full stop. It also doesn't change your location or the simulated time. Whatever you've set through the time controls on the sky map — your coordinates, the current moment, the playback speed — stays exactly as you left it. If you want to actually learn the sky rather than just watch it drift by, use Sky tour as a first pass and then go back and click things. Start it, let it run one slow revolution so you get a sense of what's roughly where — which patch of horizon has the bright cluster, which direction the ecliptic band leans tonight — and then, as soon as something catches your eye, just drag. That single touch is your entire "stop" command; there's no menu to hunt through, no separate exit button, and by the time your hand moves, the camera is already yours again to aim and click on whatever held your attention. And if you're the kind of person who gets even slightly seasick watching something spin steadily on a screen, don't fight it: check your device's reduced-motion setting before you go looking for the button, because on that setting the tour is deliberately absent, and cinematic reading is the version actually meant for you.
